Now, Onto This Week’s Topic: How to Make Products Stand Out in Email Pitches
On any given day, a busy writer will likely get at least 400 pitches from publicists about fancy new services that companies are offering, interesting people to profile, and products, products, products galore.
On the product front, every day, a writer’s inbox could be filled with someone pitching them a new olive oil, a t-shirt, nail polish, tons of lotions and potions promising to fight aging, new clothing lines, sneakers, hair ties, bandaids, salad dressing, suitcases, home decor, bedding, tomato sauce, the latest and greatest in tech and electronics, and more.
Sometimes there are 5 olive oils, 7 yoga mats and 4 pillows in our inboxes in one day! And this is on a normal day. If a writer is working on a gift guide or product round up, they’ll have sooooo many emails filled with pitches claiming to be the “best,” “essential,” “must have” item for whatever product guide they are working on.
So what makes a product stand out in a sea of product pitches that writers are receiving? We have good news: There are a few tricks!
Here are a bunch of tactics to implement to stand out in a sea of noise:
