I'd add, to #6 about email vs. phone interviews - if a client is better on phone, or doesn't have time to write out email responses, the PR person can 'interview' the client with the provided questions, take down the client's responses and get the client's approval on their responses, then provide back to the writer. I feel like this is a nice compromise, if a writer doesn't have time or schedules don't match up, and/or the client doesn't want to write out responses.

Has to be super frustrating. Definitely follow up with the writer until you get an answer when you send a sample and they seem to disappear!
