Missed Our January Top Tier Talk? Here's the Recording!
We answered ALL your burning questions in this jam-packed hour
Hello, TTC subscribers!
Tuesday’s monthly Top Tier Talk was a great session … we had TONS of questions from so many participants that we ran out of time to answer them all. No worries, we’ll address the leftovers in upcoming Substack newsletters!
As a reminder: We’re doing these chats monthly and they are offered to all paid members — it’s a great way to connect with us and hear from other publicists who are facing the same obstacles you are!
We answered ~20 questions on Tuesday, including:
Mass pitching is an unfortunate part and necessary evil of PR … can you share some do’s and don’ts for sending mass pitches?
How do you feel about being pitched for a product you’ve already featured?
How do you prefer to have expert commentary pitched to you?
How should we thank you and share our inclusion in an article or gift guide?
What are some do’s and don’ts of follow-ups?
HARO vs Qwoted: Which do you prefer and why?
How do we have the best chance of having our emails seen?
How heavily do affiliate links play into your decisions about gift guide and round-up inclusion?
Spoiler on #8: Most publications require affiliate marketing for inclusion these days — and the ones that don’t yet have the requirement in place will soon. Publicist Sarah Karger created a course called Ultimate Masterclass and Introduction to Affiliate Marketing for Publicists and it’ll answer ALL of your questions on this topic! She’ll be joining us for a Top Tier Talk this spring, so we highly encourage you to take her course before that Q&A!
We had a few questions we didn’t get through (so many people participated, which was great!) and promised we’d address those in future Substacks to make sure that all questions get answered. So to tease next week’s newsletter, we’ll be tackling this question, which one of our TTC community members asked:
Networking, media events, desksides. What do journalists prefer? Do you think PR people grabbing coffee with journalists to chat is still a good tactic? What actually drives media to brand dinners/luncheons, etc. Do you think swanky hot spots in LA/NYC - or perhaps an amazing swag bag?
So stay tuned for a deep dive into that!
For those of you who couldn’t make it, you were definitely missed! But no worries. As promised, we’re sending out the link to the video so you can watch at your convenience.
If you see the paywall below, you can upgrade your subscription to view the recording … plus you’ll get access to all our weekly paid content where we do deep dives on industry topics and you’ll be invited to attend all of our future monthly Top Tier Talks, too.
