How to Work Your Sources into Articles Around the Holidays
We're here to help you get creative … it’s not only about the product placements this season!
Hey everybody! Thanks for joining us on this new adventure. Nice to see some familiar faces here and for those who we don’t know yet, welcome! Very excited about the community we’re building with Top Tier Consulting. Our goal is to help publicists keep scoring in the placement department and to continuously get their clients in top-tier publications.
For this edition, we figured we’d hone in on what EVERYONE is talking about right now… the holidays.
For the remainder of the year, nearly every writer out there will be focusing on content around Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years. Yes, there will be gift guides galore, but there are plenty of opportunities to work your sources into seasonal stories beyond those. And trust us, writers are looking for ideas right now.
So we’re coming in hot with our “how the heck to pitch about the holidays and stand out in a writer’s inbox when EVERYONE is pitching about the holidays” tips. Plus, we’re sharing links to stories we’ve written for the holidays (and the stories behind how they came to be and how we went about sourcing for them) that are great examples of how you can get creative to help land your clients in holiday coverage (in gift guides and beyond).
Yes, our Substack will always live behind a paywall. That means you’ll have to upgrade your subscription to one of our paid plans in order to take advantage of them. Since we’re two busy writers, we’re treating these newsletters like we would any other article we write. We’ll be putting our heads together to pour our collective best tips into these and will also be including personal examples as they’ve pertained to us in the past. We know you’ll find your subscription extremely valuable and appreciate you joining us on this journey!
If you’re interested in more direct access to us, we offer two options:
Upgrade your Top Tier Consulting Substack subscription to a Founders Membership. In addition to our newsletters, you’ll get to hop in on monthly Ask Us Anything sessions where you can pick our brains and ask us questions that came up for the month on a Zoom chat. These are incredibly beneficial as well because you’ll also hear answers to what other people may be asking, which can inspire some new ideas. Think of it more as a community where we can all bounce ideas and inspiration off one another, dive into real-time industry insights and even find unexpected collaborations.
Book one of our private consulting sessions. Want to workshop a few pitches with two top-tier writers? Try our Pitch Perfecting Session. We also offer private Ask us Anythings with the two of us and your agency, sessions on perfecting a press trip itinerary, as well as those on how to connect with new writers and build relationships, nail the press mailers and throw an event that will translate into lots of coverage, and more. You can learn more about those sessions, pricing and availability here.
Now onto it. Since this is such a huge topic, we’ll be breaking it out into multiple parts (to make it more digestible for you) over the next few weeks. This week, we’ll be covering how to get sources into stories around the holidays when it seems like everyone is only focusing on gift guides…plus, no affiliate programs required!
